The High Atlas, the greatest mountain range of North Africa, is perhaps the most beautiful and intriguing part of Morocco. It has retained a remoteness which until recent decades was virtually complete, and contains villages where the way of life has changed little for centuries.
 
 
Toubkal & the High Atlas - 15 days 

A remote trek in the beautiful High Atlas mountains of Morocco, including an ascent of Mt Toubkal  

Detailed Itinerary [brief itinerary...]

At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal (4167m) is the highest mountain in North Africa. The hike to the summit is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view from he summit makes the hard work worthwhile.
With the start of the trek just a couple of hours drive from Marrakech, you can reach the summit and back within a week and still have time to explore Morocco’s most captivating city, Marrakech.
 

Day 1: Transfer from airport to your hotel in Marrakech.
 
Day 2: Today we drive to Tizi 'n Tichka (2260m). Here we will meet the mules and the muleteers. You will walk for about about 1 hour to Afra (2000m). We spend the night in tents.
 
Day 3:

Today we walk from Afra to Azgour (1800m). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 6 hours walking.
 

Day 4:

Today we walk from Azgour to the Yagour Plateau (2500m). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 6 hours walking.
 

Day 5:

Today we walk from the Yagour Plateau to Ourika Valley (1800m). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 6 hours walking.
 

Day 6:

Today we walk from Ourika Valley to Assaka Amenzal (2200m). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 8 hours walking.
 

Day 7:

Today we walk from Assaka Amenzal to Assif 'n Tinzar (via Oumchichkapas (2000m)). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 7 hours walking.
 

Day 8:

Today we walk from Tinzar to Amsouzert (1700M) (via Ourrai-pas (3100m)). We spend the night in a local gite.
Approx. 6 hours walking.
 

Day 9: Today we enjoy a well-earned free day in Amsouzert to just relax. You will be able to walk around a Berber village and really get to know how the Berber people live in the Atlas Mountains. We spend the night in a local gite.
 
Day 10:

Today we walk from Amsouzert to Lac d'Infi (2300m). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 4 hours walking.
 

Day 11:

Today we walk from Lac d'Infi to Nelther Refuge (3200m). We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 6 hours walking.
 

Day 12:

Today we ascent Toubkal (4167m) and after enjoying the most stunning views of the Atlas Mountains we walk back down to the Refuge. We spend the night in tents.
Approx. 5 hours walking.
 

Day 13:

Today we walk from down from Toubkal down to Imlil (1740m) (via Sidi Chamharouch (2300m)).  Transfer back to Marrakech. The drive will take us around 1,5 hours.
Approx. 4 hours walking.
 

Day 14: Free day in Marrakech
 
Day 15: Departure from Marrakech
